During my trips, I always try to find a sign with the name of the city I am visiting, and take a photo in front of it.
It can be in any form - a casual graffiti on a wall, a "Welcome to ..." sign on a road, huge "I love ..." letters on a beach, or anything similar (examples of such signs are scattered throughout this website).
Sounds so simple...

It might be easy to take a photo in front of the Eiffel Tower, the Great Pyramid of Giza or the Christ the Redeemer statue, and, of course, these landmarks will be perfectly recognizable.
But where could you locate a sign that says "Welcome to Paris", "I love Cairo" or "Enjoy Rio"?

Sometimes the only place where I could find a sign with the name of the city was a bus stop, the entrance to a public library, a post office, or a city market...
A shame!

I decided to create a website with a collection of photos and details of geographical signs around the world -
I thought it would be a fun way for travelers to locate such signs, to learn geography, to share photos and to communicate with each other.
Initially intended for cities, this website also welcomes signs with the names of countries, states, islands, rivers, national parks, or other landmarks.
Any name worthy of a photo!

While some photos are taken by me personally, I am kindly asking dear visitors to please share photos and details of the signs you have visited or know about.
• Does your home city have a sign with its name?
• Have you traveled somewhere and taken a photo of a sign?
• Can you spot an inaccuracy in the details of any sign (for example, the sign doesn't exist anymore, has moved, has changed appearance...)?
• Do you recognize a sign and its location, in case it's marked as unknown?
• Or can you just provide a better or a more recent picture of a published sign?
Then please get in touch with me - I will be happy to publish your sign on this website (optionally with a link to your social media account, travel blog or any other resource - whatever you want!)
(Also, if you have any suggestions regarding this website, let me know - any feedback is greatly appreciated!)

• This website is totally free to use, without ads or any other means of money-making. My biggest reward is to learn that someone has found it useful or at least fun to check out.
• This website is in the English language, as it's directed to the general public worldwide. Names of signs, countries, regions and other locations are written in English, wherever possible.
• The list of countries includes only UN sovereign member states. Dependent territories (such as Greenland, Aruba or New Caledonia) are listed as "regions" in the main country's section.
• This website is politically neutral - signs from all countries and territories are welcome. Of course, I do have my own opinion of the current political situation in the world, but I don't want to reflect it here in any way.
• All published sign photos have a resolution of 800x600 pixels, without any EXIF metadata. If you contribute your photos, I will resize and format them accordingly.
• The GPS coordinates specify the location of the sign itself, not the location from which the photo was taken.
• Country flags used on this website are kindly provided by Flagpedia.net
